Another home just went on the Foreclosure list in our Oregon City neighborhood.
The neighbor simply left, leaving a 3500 sq ft. home sitting empty. It's good in the sense that they had to take their barking dog with them, but bad in the sense that now my house is worth that much less.
Being a Realtor, I see the slow decline of ALL of our homes slipping downward. I can't say for the rest of the neighbors but I know currently, we owe much much more that the home is worth. But, with the foreclosures popping up like wild flowers, it's making paying the mortgage that much more painful.
But, I'm a fighter. I've never been one to give up. So, where does that leave us? If you owe more than your home is worth, do you do what our neighbor did and walk away? Or do you stick it out and look pass the horizon?
Me, personally, I feel we need to stand some ground. If not, the housing market will only get worse.
It's like going to war and your platoon starts feeling like we're out numbered. There's going to be a few that run, but, for me, I'm staying and fighting.

Yard Sales in Oregon City
Finding yard sales and garage sales are hard to find at places like Craigslist for Oregon City. The listings that do come up say things like,
"Great Stuff" or "Lots of good stuff for sale" (What? Great stuff, good stuff? What stuff?)
Most of the listings tell you only enough to fill your minivan with $60 bucks worth of gas only to drive to hell and back and find stuff not worth the $60 bucks you filled your gas tank with.
So, YourOregonCity.com was created.
Here's a site where you can advertise all your stuff for at the yard sales, even show pictures. If it doesn't sell at the yard sale, sell them in the Classified Ads section of YourOregonCity.com.
Heck, while you're there, find a job in the Employment Section then get yourself a rental or even a home for sale by a FSBO, For Sale By Owner.
Anyhow, the point is this, if you want to find great yard sales, like the one coming up where all the neighbors have these great 3 day sales in August, you can find them all at YourOregonCity.com.
Happy Hunting.

Foreclosure Hits Home
A foreclosure just across the street from my home just went to auction. The reality of foreclosure just hit home.
The family that lived there had lived there for almost 13 years. 13 years! That's a long time in a home and then having to walk away from all those memories. Wow.
I really felt bad for the family. I knew them well. But, it's the kids that I really feel for. They were born there, raised there, now having to leave there.
For children, it's must not make a whole lot of sense. One moment you're putting up posters of your favorite band, the next moment your packing that poster and moving to another place after 13 years. Must be hard.
As I sit on front steps staring at the now empty home, I realize how close we all are to foreclosure (if you own a home) and just how lucky and scared I felt all at once.
With a little bad luck, some major financial tugs at the saving account and suddenly you're behind 4 months on mortgage.
I surely hope the higher ups start to really take notice at a local level what this market is doing to families like the one across the street from me.
I sure hope my neighbor across from me doesn't soon say the same thing...
